Madonna performed the best Super Bowl halftime show in NFL history. Was it spectacular? Yes. Was it memorable? Oh, yes. Were people talking about it. Twitter definitely says “yes.” As a matter of fact, there was an average of about 8,000 tweets per second for five minutes while the Queen of Pop put on one of the greatest, memorable shows in Super Bowl and television history. **Update to this post as of February 6, 2012: The Super Bowl game itself garnered a 47.8 rating (apparently, that’s really good…). Madonna’s halftime performance garnered a rating of 48.3. Around 114 million people tuned in to watch the halftime show, the most in Super Bowl history. That’s right, Madonna officially won the Super Bowl. 😉 Her new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin'” is number two on iTunes (US store), her future album, MDNA is number one, and the music video “Give Me All Your Luvin'” is also number one**

Madonna - Bridgestone Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show

Madonna has been pushing buttons, setting records and churning out hit songs for almost thirty years. Throughout her career, she’s delivered several great performances that had people talking and entertained, dancing their asses off in arenas around the world.

She’s been provocative. She’s been sexual. She’s initiated and sparked public dialogue on things like censorship, self-reliance, feminism, sex, homophobia, sexism and racism. She’s even received the wrath of the Vatican a couple times. Oh, and she’s also the most successful female artist of all time. She’s still a force of nature at age 53.

Here’s a few of Madonna’s most memorable moments live. Take a trip down memory lane or see what all the fuss was about “back in the day.” I’ve also provided her age at the time each video was originally aired live so you can see how timeless she is and the incredible shape she’s been in and maintained throughout her career. Watch the Queen of Pop put on some of the greatest shows on Earth. 🙂
